The World Tree in Peril
After finishing their business with the blacksmith, the party set out to return to the Jarl’s longhouse. However, as they passed Yggdrasil — the great world tree — something immediately felt wrong. The immense tree seemed to be decaying from within, as if a hidden corruption was eating away at its core.
Their attention was suddenly drawn by a loud sneeze followed by a heavy thud. Investigating, they found a large tortle lying helplessly on his back. As they tried to help him, he sneezed again — and instantly transformed into a giant tuna, flopping and gasping for air. Moments later, he changed yet again.
The creature, known as the “Old Kautz,” had lost control over his magic. The reason soon became clear: his staff, the source of his magical stability, had been stolen by a massive eagle. Without it, his transformations spiraled wildly out of control. Determined to help, the party decided to retrieve the staff.
The Eagle’s Nest and the Hidden Threat
The group ascended into the vast canopy of Yggdrasil, where they discovered the eagle’s nest. The stolen staff had been woven into it as part of the structure, alongside a round stone and a strange potion. Rather than resorting to violence, the party chose diplomacy. They gathered replacement nesting materials and even provided the eagle with a giant-sized chicken as food. Satisfied, the creature allowed them to reclaim the staff.
When the party picked up the stone, several Chwingas suddenly appeared, cheering excitedly. Realizing its importance, the group rolled it through an opening into the hollow interior of the tree. When the Chwingas proved unable to move it further, the party teleported inside to assist them.
There, they uncovered the true source of the corruption: a Nagpa lurking within Yggdrasil, enslaving the Chwingas and forcing them to work for its own dark purposes. A challenging battle followed, but the party ultimately defeated the creature and freed the trapped spirits.
Restoration and Reward
With the Nagpa gone, the group helped the Chwingas repair their altar and return the stone to its rightful place. The effect was immediate. The corrupted energy within Yggdrasil began to recede, and the tree’s immense life force surged back, healing itself from within.
In gratitude, the Chwingas rewarded the party with a Seed of Yggdrasil, and each of them felt a surge of renewed vitality — a blessing from the world tree itself.
What had begun as a simple walk back to the longhouse had turned into something far greater: the salvation of Yggdrasil, and perhaps the prevention of an even larger catastrophe yet to unfold.
