Yrel
1. Description
1.1. Appearance
Yrel is the true Scion of Memnor and possesses two distinct forms. In her physical form she resembles a towering Cloud Giant, roughly thirty feet tall, with grey-blue skin, pale cloud-like hair, and regal white-and-gold clothing. Her presence carries an unmistakable divine weight even when she is calm.
Her greater Scion form is far less solid: a gargantuan silhouette formed from cloud and mist, with only the faint suggestion of a giant woman within the storm. In this state she appears less like a mortal creature and more like a living piece of the sky itself.
While trapped inside the silver hand mirror, Yrel is visible only as a distant, distorted figure beyond the glass. Her voice is faint and difficult to hear until something connected to her bloodline or power draws close.
1.2. Personality
Yrel is dignified, patient, and considerably less arrogant than the Cloud Giant ruler who stole her title. She carries herself with the calm certainty of someone who once embodied an ancient divine office rather than merely ruled through political authority.
Despite her power, her greatest concern is not reclaiming a throne or taking revenge on Othyrian. Her imprisonment, the theft of her power, and the disruption of the World Axis have made her focused on what must be repaired before more of the world is lost.
When Ygvar is involved, however, that composure can crack. He is not merely part of an old prophecy or political solution to the Giant conflict—he is her son.
2. Biography
2.1. Background
Yrel is the true Scion of Memnor, one of the ancient Giant Scions bound to the great domains of the world. As Scion of the Cloud Giants, she possessed immense power and was unable to freely abandon the domain to which she was bound.
At some point, Othyrian of Many Faces captured Yrel and usurped her position. Rather than merely claiming the title of Scion, Othyrian extracted a portion of Yrel’s Scion power and bound it to himself. This allowed him to retain that power even while Yrel remained imprisoned.
Yrel’s existence became a secret. To the wider world, Othyrian presented himself as the Scion of Memnor.
2.2. Imprisonment
Yrel’s prison is a finely crafted silver hand mirror that eventually came into the possession of the party after their conflict with Othyrian.
The mirror does not merely contain an image or projection of Yrel. It is the vessel in which she herself has been bound. Her ability to communicate through it is limited and unstable.
Othyrian no longer requires the mirror to maintain the portion of Scion power he stole from her. Destroying or opening the prison would therefore free Yrel, but would not automatically strip Othyrian of what he has already taken.
The ancient Chains of Earthbinding are connected to Yrel’s imprisonment and her immense cloud-like Scion form. They were originally created to force the Scion of Memnor into a material, earthbound state should that Scion ever abuse their power.
The Chains are hidden within the Well of Liquid Starlight. Accessing or retrieving them is tied to a relic carried by Yrel’s son.
2.3. Ygvar
Ygvar is Yrel’s biological son.
Though born from the bloodline of the Cloud Scion, Ygvar is a Stone Giant and was raised among the Stone Giants by his adoptive father, Jarl Sigurd Eisenfuß.
Ygvar carries a necklace connected to Yrel and to the Chains of Earthbinding. When Ygvar comes close to the mirror, the relic resonates with Yrel’s prison and allows her to communicate far more clearly.
Yrel’s relationship with Ygvar is one of the greatest secrets surrounding the Giant conflict. His heritage makes him a living bridge between Cloud and Stone Giants: born of the sky, raised by the stone.
3. Character Information
3.1. Powers
As the true Scion of Memnor, Yrel possesses immense power over cloud, wind, and the sky. Her full capabilities are currently inaccessible while she remains imprisoned.
Her natural Scion form can become a vast, semi-incorporeal manifestation of living cloud. This state is precisely why the Chains of Earthbinding were created: they can impose weight, solidity, and earthly form upon a being that might otherwise become nearly impossible to contain.
A portion of Yrel’s original Scion power was forcibly extracted by Othyrian and remains bound to him.
3.2. Notable Items and Relics

Chains of Earthbinding Artifact Unknown Ancient chains capable of grounding the Scion of Memnor’s cloud form. Hidden within the Well of Liquid Starlight. 6. Quotes
- “Ygvar…?”
- “He did not become the Scion of Memnor. He took from one.”
- “The power he stole is his now. Breaking this prison will not take it back.”
- “The Chains were not forged to imprison me. They were forged in case one such as I ever needed to be brought back to earth.”
