Tibbins Wattlebee

1. Description

1.1. Appearance

Tibbins Wattlebee is a small Grung traveler with soft green skin and faint yellow markings along his limbs, resembling faded marsh reeds. His eyes are large, round, and perpetually curious, often giving him the appearance of quiet wonder even in dangerous situations.

He wears a simple, slightly oversized traveler’s cloak reinforced for wet weather, along with a modest satchel filled with maps, inks, and sketching materials. His most defining feature is a sturdy wooden walking stick, carefully polished from long journeys, which always carries a glass bowl mounted at its top.

Inside the bowl sits Gilbert Grudge, an immortal fish with human-like lips and a beard, who appears permanently irritated by existence.

The walking stick is often slightly tilted under the weight of both traveler and fish, giving Tibbins a gently unsteady but determined posture.

1.2. Personality

Tibbins Wattlebee is endlessly optimistic, polite, and deeply curious about the world around him. He believes most beings are fundamentally good and interprets hostility as miscommunication or temporary emotional distress.

He considers Gilbert Grudge his closest companion and travel partner, interpreting the fish’s constant insults as a form of mentorship or emotional expression.

Tibbins is patient to a fault, rarely offended, and always eager to learn from new experiences, even when those experiences involve being verbally abused by his own fish.

2. Biography

2.1. Background

Tibbins Wattlebee comes from a quiet marsh settlement where travelers were rare and stories were treasured more than gold. Fascinated by outsiders, he began recording the world through sketches and hand-drawn maps, believing every place had a personality worth preserving.

He eventually left home to “see the rest of the world properly,” carrying only his maps, his walking stick, and an unshakable belief that friendship could be found anywhere.

His journey changed when he encountered Gilbert Grudge, an immortal insult-spewing fish bound to a bowl. Interpreting Gilbert’s hostility as complex emotional communication, Tibbins adopted him as a companion and continued his travels with him ever since.

He insists they are lifelong friends. Gilbert strongly disagrees.
