Artor Morlin
1. Description
1.1. Appearance
Artor Morlin cuts a striking and regal figure, even within the damp shadows of Waterdeep’s undercity. His skin is a deep shade of ebony, smooth and flawless, contrasting sharply with the faint crimson glow that lingers in his eyes — a mark of his vampiric nature. Long black dreadlocks, intricately braided and adorned with subtle golden clasps, cascade down his back like strands of midnight silk. He wears a fine purple tunic embroidered with golden patterns reminiscent of arcane symbols, the fabric rich yet unassuming in the gloom. Over it drapes a light silk robe that flows soundlessly with his every movement, as if darkness itself obeys his will. At his side rests a beautifully curved scimitar, its edge whispering with restrained menace — both weapon and ornament befitting a lord of his kind.
1.2. Personality
Artor Morlin exudes an aura of unshakable composure and quiet authority. Centuries of existence have tempered his emotions, leaving behind a being who moves and speaks with deliberate grace. He is never quick to anger, for he understands that true power requires neither haste nor display. Confident in his strength and intellect, Artor approaches every challenge with analytical calm, preferring reason and study over violence. His passion lies in knowledge — the forbidden sciences of alchemy, the mysteries of undeath, and the veiled forces that once eluded him as a mortal. In the solitude of the sewers, he pursues his research with tireless focus, driven not by greed or conquest, but by an endless curiosity that even immortality cannot quench.
2. Biography
2.1. Background
Artor Morlin is a vampire who lives in the deep shadows of the sewers of Waterdeep. Once human, his transformation has endowed him with a sinister aura and an eerie presence. Despite his unsettling nature, he possesses a quiet dignity and remarkable knowledge, particularly in occult and alchemical studies.
Artor rarely emerges to the surface and prefers to remain in darkness. His voice is deep and gentle, creating a fascinating contrast to his terrifying reputation. In his rare encounters with the residents of Waterdeep, he always appears polite and controlled, yet a sense of latent threat accompanies him.
A silent agreement between Artor and the authorities of Waterdeep maintains a fragile balance. Artor has agreed not to kill humans for their blood, and in return, he receives regular deliveries of animal blood. This arrangement allows him to continue his eerie studies undisturbed in the depths of the sewers. Rumors suggest that his research delves into long-forgotten secrets of magic and alchemy, denied to him when he was human.

After solving a few moderate riddles, they learned from Artor Morlin about a ritual enabling vampires to resist fire damage, requiring the sacrifice of twelve children at a specific time.
- Chapter 4 - The new Menace, The Security Council: On their way back to Waterdeep, the group receives a letter delivered by an owl from Lady Laeral Silverhand, inviting them to the Security Council battlemap omitted meeting. At the council, the Open Lords of Waterdeep are present, along with familiar faces such as Lady Laeral, Pumat Sol, the magic shop owner with political ties, and Artor Morlin, the vampire from the sewers who assists with his knowledge about vampires.
- Chapter 6 - Welcome to Barovia, Arrival in Barovia: Shortly afterward, a carriage approached the group, and Pidlwick I revealed himself, delivering an invitation to the Castle Ravenloft presented within the severed head of Artor Morlin.

Incidents of people disappearing into the sewers had become frequent and needed to be stopped.
