Belwrick Grimwall
1. Description
1.1. Appearance
Belwrick Grimwall stands just over three feet tall, a wiry halfling with the restless posture of someone always prepared to bolt. His brown hair falls to medium length and frames a neatly kept beard, giving him a surprisingly refined look for a career thief. His dark eyes are sharp and constantly moving, assessing exits, valuables, and weaknesses with practiced ease.
He wears a long leather coat lined with countless hidden pockets, each carefully stitched to conceal tools, trinkets, and stolen treasures. Soft boots mute his steps, fine gloves protect his nimble fingers, and a sleek black cylinder hat crowns his ensemble — a touch of flair that makes him look more like a traveling performer than a rogue. The illusion suits him well.
1.2. Personality
Belwrick is driven by an insatiable appetite for easy gold. He values cleverness over cruelty and prefers deception, illusion, and charm to open conflict. To him, theft is less a crime and more a demonstration of wit — if something can be taken without being caught, then it simply lacked a worthy owner.
Ambitious to a fault, he is easily tempted by valuable artifacts and dangerous opportunities, even when caution would serve him better. He masks fear with humor and sarcasm, growing particularly talkative when cornered. But when a situation turns truly dire, Belwrick does what he does best — he vanishes.
2. Background
Belwrick’s early years were spent mastering petty theft and trickery, always chasing the quickest route to wealth. His ambition eventually led him to the Zhentarim, the infamous Black Network, where he found greater opportunities — and greater risks. For a time, he prospered as an infiltrator and retriever of valuable assets.
His downfall came when he stole powerful magical artifacts from a high-ranking member of the organization. Expelled and hunted, he turned to the arcane arts to enhance his craft, mastering illusions and enchantments to support his roguish talents. Now in Waterdeep, he has claimed an abandoned Zhentarim safehouse as his base, seeking to build his own place in the city’s underworld — undeterred by the mysterious force that drove the Black Network away.
