As his magical abilities began to manifest, he was admitted to a prestigious arcane academy, The Mystic Conclave of the Arcane, where his natural talent quickly distinguished him from his peers. Specializing in evocation and abjuration, he showed exceptional control over destructive combat magic.
Everything changed during a practical examination in his fifth year. During a staged battle against summoned elementals, Aerenthal unleashed a carefully aimed fireball to protect his fellow students—unaware that one of them, a halfling illusionist named Miren, was hidden nearby under invisibility. The explosion severely injured her, leaving her blind and without her hands, ending her ability to practice magic forever. Though the academy deemed it a tragic accident, Aerenthal could not forgive himself. He left the academy and swore never again to cast spells meant to directly harm another living being. Seeking a new path, he trained with the Bladesingers, learning to combine magic with swordplay and to use his power for protection rather than destruction.
