A Kingdom in Prosperity — and a Sudden Catastrophe
Three years have passed since the defeat of Zephyr Solvyrth, and in that time the kingdom of Lemuria has flourished. Under the rule of its new king, Aurelius Dragonheart, peace and prosperity have spread across the land. But six months ago, a massive earthquake shook the entire continent. Buildings collapsed, cities were damaged, and entire regions were left in chaos. The cause of the catastrophe remains unknown.
To investigate, a special expedition led by Uthliz, the newly appointed commander of the Royal Guard, was sent out to uncover the truth. However, after half a year, no reports or messages have returned from the group.
The King’s Request and an Unlikely Ally
With no other options left, King Aurelius turned to FEND, a member of The Deam and one of the heroes who helped defeat Zephyr. The king tasked him with assembling a rescue team to investigate the disaster and find out what happened to Uthliz and his expedition.
Around the same time, a stranger arrived in Waterdeep: a changeling named Jin Silverveil. She came from the kingdom of Yggdravia and brought troubling news. When the earthquake struck, she had been traveling through the forest, but when she returned, her homeland had completely vanished. In its place remained nothing but a gigantic crater.
Gathering the Rescue Party
Realizing their goals aligned, FEND and Jin joined forces and began recruiting allies. In a temple of Selûne they encountered Madrach Moos, a firbolg cleric quietly praying to his goddess while humming a warm song, and Aerenthal, an aasimar wizard devoted to his beloved Lumira. Both quickly agreed to assist in the mission.
The newly formed group returned to the Davern, a tavern owned by FEND, where they met Kaela, an eladrin elf resting after a recent adventure. Once she heard about the mission, she decided to join them as well, completing the rescue party.
The Journey Begins
Using their experience and a few magical tricks, the group avoided a long journey when Aerenthal opened a teleportation circle, instantly transporting them to Steelheim. From there they continued by carriage toward Yggdravia in search of clues.
Along the road they were briefly ambushed by goblins, but the confrontation ended quickly once the goblins learned that FEND was an associate of their boss, Jastor Gallywix. Not wanting trouble with their boss’s colleague, the goblins quickly fled.
The Mystery of the Knight Club
The party soon reached the town of Tollvarn, which appeared almost completely ruined and abandoned after the earthquake disrupted the Kerbholz Road, the major trade route between Lemuria and Yggdravia. The only lively place left was the Knight Club, a brightly decorated pub run by a magically animated Alchemy Jug named Kegory.
While sharing drinks, Kegory told the group about a strange incident that had occurred months earlier. A group of travelers led by a dragonborn—clearly Uthliz—had visited the pub together with two bounty hunters. An argument broke out between them, and just as a fight seemed inevitable, a gigantic hand burst through the roof. The hand instantly impaled one of the bounty hunters with a massive sword, then grabbed the other bounty hunter and Uthliz before vanishing into thin air. The remaining members of the group rushed outside, but the creature had already disappeared, and no trace of the abducted men was ever found again.
Questions for the Dead
After hearing this story, the party visited the grave of the slain bounty hunter. Madrach cast Speak with the Dead in hopes of gaining more information, but the answers they received were vague and ultimately unhelpful.
With no better leads, the group continued toward the former capital of Yggdravia, where they eventually discovered the enormous crater Jin had described. Around this time they also noticed that a strange raven had been following them for quite some time.
The Giant from the Sky
Shortly afterward they heard a tremendous crash and rushed to investigate, only to find a giant stuck headfirst in the ground. After pulling him free, they spoke with him and learned his name was Ygvar. According to him, he had fallen from a ship that sails through the sky among the clouds. Apparently, his father had thrown him overboard and banished him for being a constant troublemaker.
In exchange for directions to the nearest bar, Ygvar gave the party a peculiar gift: a ship inside a bottle that could carry them to the sky city of Drasilgard.
Sailing Toward Drasilgard
With their new vessel in hand, the party ascended into the sky under their own power, released the ship from the bottle, and set sail among the clouds.
