Madrach Moos

1. Description

1.1. Appearance

Madrach Moos is a tall firbolg whose presence feels calm and grounding, like the quiet stillness of a forest at night. His moss-green hair falls thick around his shoulders, blending naturally with the earthy tones of his pale blue-gray skin. Across his skin shimmer faint twilight-like sparks—tiny bioluminescent freckles that glow softly whenever he calls upon divine power, resembling distant stars in a dim sky.

His eyes are deep and reflective, catching small points of light even in darkness. Madrach wears a mantle woven from cave silk and bat fur, threaded with strands of silver that glimmer like moonlight. He carries a crescent-shaped buckler engraved with a dancing figure and often keeps a hooded lantern at his side that casts a gentle, moonlike glow rather than harsh light. Altogether, his appearance evokes the calm beauty of twilight—soft, protective, and quietly radiant.

1.2. Personality

Madrach is gentle, patient, and deeply attentive to the people around him. He rarely raises his voice and prefers listening over speaking, often offering quiet guidance rather than direct commands. When he does speak, his words are thoughtful and deliberate, chosen carefully as if each one is meant to guide someone safely across uncertain ground.

At his core, Madrach believes that darkness does not have to mean danger. To him, twilight represents safety, rest, and reflection. He tries to protect others without controlling them, guiding their choices instead of forcing outcomes. While compassionate and forgiving, he is not naïve—he understands that mercy sometimes requires strength, and when necessary, he will stand firm as a guardian for those who cannot defend themselves.

2. Biography

2.1. Background

Madrach Moos was born in the Moongarden, a hidden mycelial forest deep within the Upperdark where bioluminescent fungi and shimmering pools illuminated the endless night of the cavern. The Moongarden was a sanctuary for outcasts and wanderers—firbolg, deep gnomes, drow who rejected cruelty, and others seeking refuge from the harsher parts of the world. In this quiet refuge beneath the mountains, Madrach grew up learning the value of patience, watchfulness, and peaceful coexistence in the darkness.

When he came of age, Madrach experienced a dream that changed his path forever. A silver-haired figure danced across a dark lake beneath a glowing moon—an image he later understood as a divine calling connected to Selûne and Eilistraee. Awaking with a divine purpose, he became a sentinel of twilight, guarding the borders of the Moongarden and guiding travelers safely through the treacherous tunnels of the Underdark. Among the quiet traditions he carried with him is the hymn known as Folded Light, a soft traveling song sung when escorting the weary. Its slow, gentle melody is meant to calm fear and remind travelers that even the deepest darkness can hold a quiet, protective light.

When enemies eventually threatened the sanctuary—duergar slavers, neogi traders, and other dangers—Madrach helped defend his home with protective magic and calm resolve. Though the Moongarden survived, the attack convinced him that his calling lay beyond its borders. Now he wanders the world as a Twilight Cleric, bringing safety and guidance to those lost in darkness and seeking to ensure that the night becomes a place of refuge rather than fear.
