1. Description
1.1. Appearance
Yggvar is a towering young stone giant with a broad, powerfully muscled build and pale blue-grey skin. He is bald, and bright blue runic tattoos spread across his scalp, face, shoulders, and arms. A short pale beard frames a wide, mischievous grin that makes him look as though he has either just survived a terrible idea or is already planning the next one.
He dresses lightly for a giant, wearing little more than crossed leather straps, fur-trimmed bracers, and a rugged leather kilt. A massive, roughly hewn stone hammer rests easily across his shoulder, carried with the casual confidence of someone who has never doubted his own strength.
1.2. Personality
Yggvar is brash, arrogant, and relentlessly impulsive. He approaches danger with more confidence than judgment and has earned a reputation as a constant troublemaker through repeated displays of reckless pride. Even exile and a headfirst fall from the sky seem unable to diminish his good humor for long.
For all his irresponsibility, Yggvar is not needlessly cruel or ungrateful. When the party rescued him, he repaid them with an extraordinarily valuable gift and immediately turned his attention toward finding the nearest bar. Beneath the swagger is a generous spirit with a great deal of growing up still ahead of him.
2. Biography
2.1. Background
Yggvar is the son of Sigurd Eisenfuß, Jarl of Drasilgard, and is expected to inherit his father’s mantle one day. His pride, recklessness, and long history of causing trouble repeatedly tested Sigurd’s patience. Eventually, Sigurd cast his son out, throwing him overboard from a ship sailing among the clouds in the hope that exile would force him to learn responsibility.
Yggvar survived the fall but landed headfirst in the earth near the enormous crater left by the disappearance of Yggdravia. The party heard the impact, found him stuck upside down, and pulled him free. In exchange for directions to the nearest bar, Yggvar gave them a magical ship sealed inside a bottle, capable of carrying them through the skies to Drasilgard.
