2. Biography

2.1. Background

Tatyana, once a radiant bride-to-be, vanished on her wedding day a century ago, snatched away by an unknown entity just moments before she could wed Strahd von Zarovich. Her disappearance left a void in many hearts, but none more so than Strahd’s. Believing her dead, Strahd’s grief turned to vengeance, fueling a relentless vendetta against Waterdeep, whom he blamed for his loss.

Now, a century later, Tatyana has inexplicably returned. Yet, she is but a shadow of the vibrant woman she once was. Her eyes, once sparkling with life and love, now seem distant and clouded. She moves with an eerie grace, her actions and words dictated by an unseen force. Powerful magic binds her, suppressing her own will and thoughts, making her a puppet in a cruel game orchestrated by her captor.

Her presence is both a miracle and a mystery, a living testament to the dark forces at play. Tatyana’s return has rekindled Strahd’s hope, but also deepened his rage as he seeks to uncover the truth behind her abduction and enslavement. Her condition serves as a haunting reminder of the power of magic and the fragility of free will, as those who once knew her struggle to comprehend the extent of her transformation and the dark magic that holds her captive.

  • Chapter 9 - The Beginning of the End, The Assassination Attempt: After successfully escaping with the dragon’s gold, the Deam celebrated late into the night in The Davern, reveling in their victory. As everyone finally settled to sleep, they were suddenly attacked. FEND was alerted at the last moment by Uzgamon, the Devil in his eye. A young-looking woman had sneaked into Davern and was now attacking the group. They immediately recognized her as Tatyana, the wife of Strahd von Zarovich, who was abducted from him during their wedding. However, she seemed to be out of her senses, her eyes faintly glowing purple, and her expression distant.
  • Chapter 9 - The Beginning of the End, The Assassination Attempt: Initially, the fight did not go well for the Deam. Uzgamon offered FEND his powers, with the condition that FEND would commit to helping him on a mission in return. At first hesitant, FEND agreed to the deal to gain the upper hand against Tatyana, signing the contract. With his newfound powers, they eventually defeated Tatyana and bound her.
  • Chapter 11 - The Mad Scientist, Journey to Springwater: To attend the audience with King Arcturus XIII, the team once again travels to Springwater. At the harbor of Waterdeep, they encounter Lazy-Eye Larry and his ship, the Leaking Lobster. After brief negotiations, the group manages to secure a cheap passage to Springwater. Upon arrival, they notice some subtle changes in the city. In the outer districts, where the lower class lives, City Watchers patrol, equipped with mechanical backpacks. The group had already seen one of these backpacks before when they fought Tatyana.
  • Chapter 12 - The Final Battle, The Night Before the Battle: With this realization, the Deam could finally solve the great mystery and expose the true enemy. The brand mark matched exactly the symbol of the magic shop of Pumat Sol, The Arcane Eye. This revealed that Pumat Sol — Zephyr Solvyrth — had been behind everything from the very beginning. He was the one who turned Strahd von Zarovich into a vampire and kidnapped Tatyana. At the same time, he planted clues to incriminate Lemuria and ignite the conflict between Barovia and Lemuria.
  • Chapter 12 - The Final Battle, The Night Before the Battle: The Deam, now accompanied by Tatyana, went to Strahd’s camp to prevent the impending war. Elyndra made an impressive entrance, flying them into the camp and sweeping aside the command tent. In conversation with Strahd, they found common interests. Strahd, recognizing the true enemy, agreed to act together. Together they devised a cunning plan to lure Pumat out of hiding.
